About us

What we do: Non-profit status on demand

We enable you to volunteer for current social issues as required. We provide a non-profit structure that enables you to do this in just a few hours from idea to implementation.
You can collect donations for charitable causes alone, together with friends or even for your company, implement your own initiative or forward your collected donations to other charitable organizations at home and abroad. We support you with our expertise to help you overcome obstacles together and develop your civic engagement safely, quickly and effectively.

With WE AID, we have created an offering for German and international civil society that aims to close an existing gap in terms of breadth. WE AID aims to empower people to engage in charitable work, even if they themselves do not have direct access to charitable structures.

EU Call - Europe needs professional fiscal hosts
A fiscal host enables initiatives without their own legal form to act in a legally compliant manner, receive donations and use funding. WE AID is exactly that. As part of the current EU Call for Evidence on the development of a sustainable EU strategy for civil society, we have contributed our perspective – with a clear appeal:
Europe needs professional fiscal hosts.

WE AID´s Theory of Change
Imagine a world where donating is as easy as clicking ‘Like’. Imagine a world where volunteers, initiatives, activists and ordinary people can launch projects immediately – free from bureaucracy, legal uncertainty and financial hurdles, but with a tangible impact.

Maecenata Foundation publishes food for thought – incl. fiscal hosting
Compared to other countries, civil society in Germany is heavily dependent on public funding – on average, around 11% of civil society organisations' budgets come from government funding. This has long been reliable, but it has obscured the actual funding needs of civil society engagement in Germany. The Maecenata Foundation has published an expert report on the future financing of civil society.
The section on governance also introduces WE AID in relation to fiscal hosting. As a so-called ‘pure player’, i.e. an organisation that focuses exclusively on project management and fiscal hosting, we are one of a handful of players in a young and still very small field.

WE AID is a fiscal host for Mastodon and implements its first crypto donation
WE AID is becoming the fiscal host of Mastodon in Germany and Europe, thereby supporting the realisation of Mastodon's non-profit mission. The first grant from The Global Chinese Community of Universal Digital Commons (GCC Fund) has now been implemented. Another highlight of this collaboration is that the funding from GCC will be processed in USDC. This means that WE AID has put the first crypto donation into practice. It will be paid out in euros for use in the near future. In the future, the option of crypto donations will be offered more widely, under certain conditions also with the issuance of donation receipts.

WE AID: Enabling rapid assistance
Similar to the floods on the Ahr in 2015 and 2021, there is enormous willingness to help and donate in Germany in light of the war in Ukraine. In addition to covering medium- and long-term integration needs, there is a huge demand for emergency aid.
