We are revamping our payment system

As you know, we have been working on our new website for several months. We will also have revised our payment system for donations on this website. We are switching from PayPal as our sole payment system to the payment provider Stripe. However, PayPal will remain integrated into Stripe.
With Stripe as our payment service provider, we can significantly expand the range of payment options and also make them more international. In addition to the usual credit card payments, SEPA payments, Amazon Pay and numerous regional payment options are now also available. We also find that the user-friendliness has increased.
With Stripe, we have the opportunity to offer you further options for accepting donations in addition to the donation function on our website. Here is an example:
- The HTML donation button (see example from the Margarete Franz Foundation, button only)
- The HTML donation widget (see example from the Margarete Franz Foundation)
Each of these methods leads to the same destination: the secure Stripe payment processing pages (as we rely on Stripe and do not provide our own service). We can customise the payment processing form for you. This includes the text and logo, of course, but the ‘Donation purpose’ and ‘Donation receipt’ fields can also be customised as desired. Additional fields can be added or existing ones reduced.
The Stripe payment function will be more integrated on our new website. We hope you like the first glimpse as much as we do. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly. The previous donation buttons via PayPal will of course continue to function as before.

Good to know: Both payment providers offer discounted rates to non-profit organisations such as ours (Stripe, PayPal). The fees charged by payment providers immediately reduce the amount of donations. PayPal actively offers a feature that allows donors to cover these fees themselves. We are currently reviewing this feature for Stripe, but we are determined to implement it for you, at least at the level of our system.
